Properly designed graphics and visuals are an integral component to effectively communicate concepts and ideas. Our visual communications specialists are adept at designing compelling graphics for use in a variety of media, including print, web, large format and interactive displays. We are also expert at creating materials that are compliant with the University's brand guidelines. While we cannot provide indepth design services for all the departments within the College, we are more than happy to talk with you about your needs and provide consultation and recommendations that may direct you to proven vendors. We also have several tools and templates in the College toolkit that you can access to create your own materials. Some of the things we have helped units with include:

Logos | Department Word Mark

The University of Washington has developed branding guidelines for campus wide use and we can provide you with you department’s UW branded logo and word mark by filling out the request a project online form. Or you can access our UW Art Pack if you have the design software (Adobe Creative Suite) to create your own custom word mark.

Print Collateral | Brochures , Flyers, Postcards, Posters, Displays, Magazines, Ads and Signage

From brochures to invitations to more complex projects we can consult with you on your print graphic needs, and how to maximize your budget and meet your deadlines. Request a project online or view our Print Communications page for more information. *Note: we have special negotiated rates with on-campus and external designers and printers. Please contact us for more information about taking advantage of these rates.

Website Design and Banners

We can work with you to develop a polished look and feel for your site.  Our designers may be able to provide mockups and image assets for your developers, explain university branding guidelines, and direct you toward photography collections that may be useful for your department website, e-newsletters and e-vites. Please visit our Web Development and Design page for more information about websites, and our E-communications page for more information about e-newsletters and e-vites.

Photography & Videography

We are happy to receive requests and to help advise on how to fulfill your photography or video needs. In some cases, we are able to to send a photographer or videographer, but due to limitations in our staffing, this level of staffing is usually reserved for uniquely compelling stories or exceptionally special occasions.

If we aren't able to help, we can steer you in the right direction to find on-campus support video and photography resources.

The College of Arts & Sciences is also working on a project to make a database of A&S-specific photos available in an image library.
